WELCOME
TO
CRESCENT FARM
We
are located in the beautiful rolling dune lands of Northwest Indiana at
the southern tip of Lake Michigan and one hour east of Chicago. Our horses
get daily handling and enjoy living outdoors for their social and
physical wellbeing.
OUR BREEDING PHILOSOPHY:
PURA RAZA ESPANOLA (PRE).
Our
goal is to produce athletic and versatile Pure Spanish horses that
exceed standards in four areas - Bloodlines, Movement, Conformation
and Temperament. We believe that the essence of the Andalusian
must be maintained through careful selection of these traits, and
to not compromise on the classic baroque style that is distinctive
to the Spanish horse. With these qualities, the future of "our" horses
is bright - to be athletic and sturdy, regal and kind.
SPANISH-NORMANS.
Crescent Farm is breeding Spanish-Normans (Andalusian X Percheron) that combines
the athleticism and grace of the Spanish horse, with the substance
and character of the Percheron horse - recreating the Medieval Charger,
and an animal of unlimited versatility. They are outstanding animals
that compete in a wide variety of events and make wonderful partners
to their humans.
CROSSBREEDING
ANDALUSIANS.
The Andalusian is renowned throughout its long history for improving on mares
of any breed. In particular, the following crosses with Andalusian's are finding
success in a wide variety of competition, and are impressing people with their
athleticism and beauty. These crosses are eligible for registration with the
International Andalusian & Lusitano Horse Association as Half-Andalusian's,
and many have their own breed registries.
x Percheron = Spanish-Norman
x Quarter Horse = Azteca (national horse of Mexico!)
x Arabian = Hispano Arabe
x Friesian = Warlander
x Saddlebred = American Sporthorse
x Thoroughbred = Iberian Sporthorse & Warmblood
x Warmblood's = Iberian Sporthorse & Warmblood
In addition to participating in Andalusian
shows, we enjoy competing in combined driving events (CDE's), working
on basic dressage training, and riding and driving in the adjacent
apple orchards. Above all, we just take pleasure in being with our
horses.
